According to sources from Huawei, on October 16, the 2021 Global Digital Energy Summit was held in Dubai. At the meeting, Huawei Digital Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Huawei Digital Energy”) and Shandong Electric Power Construction Third Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as ” Shandong Power Construction Third Company”) successfully signed the Saudi Red Sea New City energy storage project. The two parties will work together to help Saudi Arabia build a global clean energy and green economy center.

 

It is reported that the energy storage scale of the project reaches 1300MWh, which is by far the world’s largest energy storage project and the world’s largest off-grid energy storage project. It has strategic significance and a benchmarking demonstration effect for the development of the global energy storage industry.

 

The Red Sea New City Energy Storage Project is a key project included in Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030″ plan. The developer is ACWA Power and the EPC contractor is Shandong Power Construction No. 3 Company. Red Sea New City, located on the coast of the Red Sea, is also known as the “new generation city”. In the future, the entire city’s electricity will come entirely from new energy sources.

And the number of projects with larger installed scale reached 34, 8.5 times that of last year, covering 12 provinces across the country. According to the guidance of the National Energy Administration, it is estimated that the installed capacity of new energy storage capacity will reach more than 30 million kilowatts in 2025, which is close to 10 times the current installed capacity of new energy storage capacity.
